SOUTH Craven School rugby union player Chris Meehan has been included in a specially selected Four Nations team to take part in an Under 18 tournament in South Wales starting tomorrow week.
Fly-half Meehan, who plays for Keighley RU Colts, has been given a chance to prove the England selectors wrong after being called up to play in a composite side which will take over the fixtures left vacant by Ireland's withdrawal from the tournament because of the foot and mouth crisis.
He is one of seven England players in the Barbarians-style line-up, which opens its programme with a game against England at Rodney Parade, Newport next Saturday (7.00). The side then take on Scotland at Bridgend on Tuesday week and complete their programme with a game against Wales at Cardiff Arms Park on Friday, April 20.
Meehan reached the final England squad, only to lose his place when the squad was pruned for the last time.
