Wibsey 0, Baildon 6 - Both sides had reason to be happy with their efforts in this cup tie.
Baildon won a difficult derby away from home while improving Wibsey's stock certainly didn't fall because they lost this Sulzer Roteq Services (UK) Leeds Aire-Wharfe Cup first round tie.
"This time last year we would have been beaten by 50 points - we have come a long way," said Wibsey coach Ian Gregson.
"We could have won it, and I was quite pleased with our efforts.
''Yes, we missed Andy Todd and Micky Ball in the backs, but the conditions probably favoured us with it being cold and muddy.
"They looked to have some speedy backs, but conditions meant it was a forward battle."
Some in the Wibsey camp felt they were denied a try in each half by referee Syd Matthews - one by centre Neil Carter in the first half and one by right winger Lewis Wright in the second half.
But Gregson only half agreed. "Neil's seemed more chance of being legitimate, but Lewis didn't get the ball down."
Wibsey must have been optimistic when they turned to face the steep Beldon Lane slope in the second half only 3-0 down.
However, as they had in the first half, they swiftly conceded a penalty, which Andy Whitley kicked, and he almost made it 9-0 in the 57th minute with a drop goal that glanced off the underside of the bar.
Whitley also missed a penalty in the 55th minute, and Gregson added: "In the second half we didn't get enough ball really.
"We took their line-outs in the first half, but in the second half we got in the 'red zone' but didn't come away with anything."
One of the reasons Wibsey failed to score in the second half was the performance of Baildon No 8 Phil Wilson while his opposite number Richard Hands also shone.
