Chairman Geoffrey Richmond has dismissed claims that Everton are set to make a £3million bid for Bradford City defender David Weth-erall.

West Ham and Coventry have also been linked with the 30-year-old defender but Rich-mond described the reports as 'a load of rubbish.'

He said: "There has been no approach. It is a newspaper story, but there is no truth in it."

Meanwhile City boss Jim Jefferies must make a late decision on Gary Locke's fitness before naming his team to face Tottenham at White Hart Lane tomorrow.

The midfield player or wing back had an operation after breaking a bone in his hand during City's last match against Newcastle at Valley Parade nine days ago.

Jefferies said: "Our physiotherapist Steve Redmond will have a look at it. It is a case of seeing how it settles down and how he feels.

"If the pain flares up and he feels uncomfortable we will have to replace him."

Redmond said: "Gary had an operation to pin a bone in his hand. He had it bandaged after the operation. He is still in a lot of pain.

"He is not going to do himself any harm by playing, but it is going to be painful."

Skipper Stuart McCall has been having treatment for a calf injury, but he expects to be fit, as does defender Robert Molenaar.

Molenaar has been troubled by a sore toe in the last two matches, but Redmond said: "That is not going to be a worry for him tomorrow. It has settled down."
