CARNIVAL organisers are hunting for

volunteers to put on floats and stalls in their 'animal kingdom' in June.

This year's Yeadon Carnival will take place on Saturday, June 30, in Yeadon High Street, but the carnival committee is already seeking participants for the carnival parade.

Co-ordinator Margaret Harrison would like to hear from businesses, community and youth groups, and churches, who can organise floats and walking displays on this year's theme of The Animal Kingdom.

She said: "At this stage, we are not entirely sure of who will be entering a float for the parade. Usually we have enthusiastic floats and walking groups from all quarters of the community. The carnival is for Yeadoners and all groups are welcome."

All groups which participate will get a share in money raised at the event, and groups will keep the money raised on their stall.

Comedian Peter Wallis has been invited to officially open the carnival in the Town Hall Square, and officially crown the carnival queen.

A carnival queen will this year be chosen from pupils at Yeadon South View Junior School, and young 'attendants' for the queen will be chosen from the other Yeadon

schools.

Mrs Harrison is also looking for someone to help organise the carnival raffle, which has proved successful in raising money for community groups and charities in past years.

Anyone who would like to help is asked to contact Mrs Harrison on (0113) 2508006.
