Otley Town Res...........2

Due to foot and mouth restrictions at Pateley's home ground, this game was played at nearby Summerbridge. In a swirling wind and heavy rain, attractive football was difficult for both sides but to their credit they did try.

In the first-half, Town had the advantage of the wind at their backs and used this to great effect with goals from a Mark Currie free-kick and a Gareth Reynolds curling shot into the top corner, to lead 2-0 at half-time.

In the second-half Town had to fight a rearguard action, being under pressure most of the time. When they did attack it was usually to good effect, although a succession of missed chances and players being off-side, denied them the opportunity of increasing the lead.

A good save from Town's 'keeper, David Kirkpatrick, in the latter stages enabled them to keep a clean sheet and credit must go to both sides for an entertaining game in difficult conditions.

Town have no game this week, with their next game being at home on Thursday, April 19, against Spa Athletic (Kick-off 6.45 pm).

Pannal Sports Res..........2

Otley produced another convincing performance despite the absence of top scorer, Dominque Blair. On the other hand the return of Ross Hutchinson saw the renewal of the Budden/Hutchinson central midfield partnership, which has been the platform of much of Otley's success throughout the season.

With Otley dominating proceedings Dale Gilmartin opened the scoring with an opportune finish before McCarthy hit the top corner from 30 yards with one of his trademark thunderbolts.

Otley went in at half-time three goals up after the hardworking James Firth finished from close range.

With conditions in their favour for the second-half Town expected Pannal to fightback but this did not materialise. McCarthy, Firth and Gilmartin each added a second goal before substitute Barber crowned an eye catching performance with a goal towards the end.

Pannal snatched two long distance consolation goals without ever threatening Otley's superiority.

This was a thoroughly professional performance by Otley's youngsters. Cater, the youngest player on the pitch, Redman, Pearson, Conway and Neale gave nothing away in defence. With the midfield dominating numerous chances were created for forwards Firth and Gilmartin, with Gilmartin in particular continuing in a rich vein of scoring form.

The only downside aspects arising from the game were injury worries for the classy Pearson and the hard working Laurenson, ahead of next week's semi-final.
