THE battling Horsforth Under-14 RL side have overcome all the odds to reach the quarter-finals of the Leeds and District Cup tonight, Wednesday, at Bus Vale. If they win they would play Oulton in the semi-finals which would put them in the last four of two competitions for they are already lined up to play at home to Stanningley on Sunday in another cup semi-final (10.30 am at Tinshill Rec).
Tonight, Wednesday's, quarter-final at Bus Vale is against Drighlington and kicks-off at 6.30 pm.
The Horsforth lads and their supporters have overcome all kinds of adversity to reach the final stages of these competitions.
Facilities are not the best for this group but they have formed as tight unit as they have battled the elements on their exposed Tinshill pitch. Facilities are few and far between and after changing in Ralph Thoresby School they then have to use a pitch side tent for refreshments and any cover from the elements.
Parents erect the tent every week - sometimes having to hold it down in high winds! After matches the players are grateful for the nearby Eyrie pub for providing post match refreshments.
