Ben Rhydding Ladies.....2
Chester Ladies.................3
The final game of the season took place last Saturday for the Ben Rhydding Ladies. The result of this game decided who would gain third place in North Division One. It was always going to be a close game and like the last few, in the end it was one goal that separated the two teams.
Chester took an early lead when the defence allowed their opposing forwards to run at them but the Ilkley Lades fought back hard and always looked dangerous in attack.
A vicious attack on Jo Ellis resulted in a penalty flick being awarded which was ably converted by Jo Wilson to level the score at half-time.
The second-half saw end-to-end hockey and it was Chester who took the lead again, but an Alexa Jennings' goal levelled the score for the second time. However, the visitors clinched victory with a well-taken short corner to put Ben Rhydding in fourth place for the season.
Special thanks must go captain Jackie Goodwin, vice-captain Jo Wilson, manager Pam Gibson and coach Peter Richardson for all their hard work which has resulted in an extremely successful season, and also to the entire squad for their continued commitment and enthusiasm.
