Elsie and Finlay Allan's eyes met over bread and cakes.
The couple, who celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary today, met when Elsie's father took her to see a cousin at a Keighley confectioner's shop.
Finlay was a baker at the Victoria Road business.
"We got friendly from there and he came to see us and we started to court then," says Elsie.
The couple married at the parish church in Elsie's native Earby on April 12, 1941. Finlay first went on to work at North Street confectioner's Hammonds, then to Walter Purvis at Braithwaite before starting his own business.
The couple moved to Bradford Road about 50 years ago, ran the business downstairs and lived upstairs.
Finlay baked at the rear while Elsie served behind the counter.
At its height the Finlay Allan Bakery attracted customers from all over Keighley and supplied to Bingley's Brown Cow pub.
Finlay's specialities, according to Elsie, were his ginger biscuits and flat cakes.
But at 86 he no longer indulges his passion.
The couple, who never had children, are celebrating their big day with a small family gathering.
On how they have survived 60 years together, Elsie says: "I'm not saying we haven't rowed because we have.
"We've agreed to differ, and I've been the boss."
Finlay adds: "Don't be envious of other people. Just live your life and make the best of what you've got."
