A wheel treat was in store for children at Oxenhope Primary School last Friday.
Olympic cycling heroine Yvonne McGregor was at the school to officially open a £250,000 extension.
Yvonne - from Bradford - last year became the first British woman ever to win an Olympic cycling medal when she took bronze in the 3,000 metres individual pursuit at Sydney.
While visiting the 180-pupil school she led an assembly and toured the new facilities.
Head teacher Mike Wragg said: "The date stone for the extension shows '2000', and to perform the official opening we wanted someone who had made a real impact in that year.
"Yvonne fitted the bill perfectly. The governing body felt she had the ideal attributes to be a role model for our children. Her achievements epitomise the importance of striving to do your best in whatever field you are good at."
The extension, completed last October, was the first major structural alteration to the school building in its century-or-so existence.
The need for additional accommodation was sparked by the local education authority's schools reorganisation, which saw the former first school become a primary. Its pupil population rose, and extra facilities were required for the older children.
Work on the extension took about six months to complete, and the school remained open throughout.
The extension includes two classrooms, cloakrooms and toilets, hygiene and store rooms and a linking corridor into the old part of the building.
