The first stone has been laid for a special unit at Eastwood Primary School.
MP Ann Cryer donned her hat and grabbed a trowel to lay the foundation stone of the school's new learning support unit.
The school is one of four Keighley primaries chosen to pioneer the groundbreaking scheme to aid children facing learning barriers.
These may be behavioural problems, family difficulties or difficulties with a specific subject.
The units, each staffed with a centre manager and learning mentor will not only cater for children at these schools but also those in the surrounding area.
Eastwood head Lynda Godden says her school's centre will cater for a maximum of 10 children.
"But," she adds, "they don't have to be the same children all the time. It's very flexible.
"It's all about building self-esteem. We're working very closely with the other schools involved."
Laying the slab Ann Cryer said: "I am very proud to be part of an organisation who have such a good idea and to be here with people who have accepted the challenge."
