Stand aside Hear'Say, back-off Boyzone, hit the road Robbie - there's a new group of Karaoke kings in town aiming for record success.
A band of Karaoke crooning regulars from the Bulls Head pub, in Great Horton Road, Bradford, have joined together to record an album of classic covers to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The five singers, who have called themselves Bulls Aid after their favourite watering hole, have recorded hits stars including Elvis, Boyzone, and Bon Jovi on their Cover To Cover CD which is expected to be snapped up by fevered fans when it is released tomorrow.
The pub's regular Karaoke host Stuart "the animal" Lee-Haigh, who sings Elvis's Kentucky Rain on the 17-track album, said the project had begun as a joke but he was now looking forward to international stardom.
He said: "It all started when one of the customers said that he would buy one of the songs we did if it was on record. After that it became a bit of a joke and eventually we thought why not? We do something for charity every year so we decided to record the CD.
"It was a non-stop seven-hour recording session, and it was without the aid of rehearsals or alcohol, so it was very hard work.
"We're going to sign the first hundred copies so they could be collectors' items one day when we're headlining new Wembley stadium!"
Pub landlord Barry Hawkes, who describes his voice as "ample", said: "We thought 'why not have a bit of fun and raise some money for charity at the same time'. I don't think I'll be getting in extra beer to cater for all the groupies though."
Other members of the band include locksmith Richard Palmer, Godfrey Mann, and secret weapon Peter Clegg - who is no stranger to chart success.
Peter scored a number one hit in Holland in 1966 with his band Three Good Reasons and their cover of The Beatles' Nowhere Man. The cover climbed to number 25 in the UK charts.
Marie Curie spokesman Brian Curran, said: "It's the first time anyone has ever recorded a CD for Marie Curie Cancer Care in Bradford. We're extremely grateful and hope that it sells in its thousands.
"We're over the moon that people keep coming up with such imaginative and fun ways to raise money for us. They're brilliant."
But Brian said he would not be joining the Bulls Aid boys in crooning the classics.
He said: "The last time I did Karaoke was about ten years ago in a bar in Malaysia to a room with, thankfully, only two people in it. I haven't got what you would call a perfect singing voice."
