Striker Howard Wellwood got Shamrocks off to a bright start in their 3-1 victory over Altofts.
Wellwood added the final touch to some impressive football as the Keighley side took an early lead. Dave Varley was also in good form in Altofts attempted to hit back. Keighley's second was also scored by Wellwood and mid-fielder Steve Pamment rattled home a brilliant free kick from 35 yards as Shammies took a 3-0 lead into the break.
In the second half they found it hard to break down an Altofts defence in determined mood. The home side secured a consolation goal after a drop in concentration in the Shamrocks defence.
Silsden are still clear at the top of the first division despite being held to a 2-2 draw by Halifax Irish on Monday night. Andy Ward and B Rhodes scored for the Cobbydalers.
With games in hand Steeton are slowly clawing their way up the second division. Rob Henson (2) and Gavin Baluk were on target as they beat Dynamoes 3-0.
Keighley Phoenix fought back from two goals down to earn a draw against Westbrook Wanderers with goals from C Smith and S Thompson.
