Jim Jefferies didn't give himself much time to savour Bradford City's welcome win over Charlton Athletic.

Less than 24 hours after the Ban-tams' 2-0 triumph at Valley Parade, he was off to Holland to check a player who had been recommended to him.

Jefferies has made a number of visits to the Continent in the last few weeks in his search for new players to strengthen his side for next season.

In the meantime, he is happy at the recent performances of his slimmed down squad, who have taken five points and scored seven goals in the last four Premiership games.

"It is a pity the season is coming to an end because we are running into a bit of form," he said. "We have just got to keep going to the end of the season and get as many points as we can and see what happens.

"We can narrow the gap if we keep playing like we have been doing in the last four matches.

"We are down to working with a smaller group of players plus one or two youngsters. There is a good spirit about the place, a change of training ground has helped us and we have had a consistency of selection over the last three or four games.

"It was important for us to beat Charlton. The fans have stayed behind us and it was important to show that we are working along the right lines.

"I think we were a bit flat in the first half. It was a hard fought game and Charlton were well organised.

"We said at half-time we needed to pick it up a bit and I thought we were excellent in the last half hour.

"We created chances, got behind their defence and I think we deserved our win.

"We produced a far better performance when we were beaten at Tottenham, but games are like that.

"Eoin Jess started to come into the play when we pushed him forward and we started to get some good football going.

"We had Benito Carbone on the left and he scored a great goal. The goalkeeper made the decision to clear it and Beni showed an excellent touch on the ball. Everyone knew when the ball left his foot it was going in."
