Police are to attend a meeting between West Yorkshire transport chiefs and angry busmen considering strike action over violence on late night buses. An incident behind the busmen's militant mood was an attack by four men on a conductor. He needed hospital treatment for his injuries. Police are investigating. But Bradford Area Assistant Chief Constable Mr Harold Long said two other alleged incidents had not been reported to the police. In one it is claimed a conductor's turban was pulled off.

Although Bingley people will be disappointed by a BBC cancellation of Wilfred Pickles's "Have a Go" which was to be recorded in the town to mark the conclusion of a Festival of Britain series, they are assured that the feature will go to Bingley, where the first " Have a Go" was held. Originally it was planned that the feature would finally go off the air with the festival series. Now, however, it has been decided there will be a further series after the festival, when the last recording is to come from Bingley.
