Sociologists, psychologists and psychiatrists came under fire from a West Yorkshire police chief today for what he called their "softy-softy, namby-pamby, pussy-footing approach" to vandalism. They should keep out of criminal work altogether and leave the way clear for a major police offensive against vandals, said Deputy Chief Constable Mr. Austin Heywood.

A 20-year-old Hebble Bus Company service from Mountain, Queensbury, to Duckworth Lane, Bradford, via Harecrofts and Wilsden is to end on Saturday. In February 1950, the original route along Black Dyke Lane had to be diverted owing to subsidence. Now Ten Yards Lane has been classified as unsuitable for buses.
