Hopes of Cleckheaton pulling off a Yorkshire Cup second round shock vanished in a ten-minute period either side of half-time.
Having conceded two tries in the first seven minutes to Morley's Chris Johnson and Scott Evans, the Yorkshire One outfit bounced back in spectacular style to snatch the lead off their illustrious National League Three opponents.
Their first try came after a Morley move had broken down in midfield and the ball was quickly moved wide to winger Mark Doherty.
The youngster still had a lot to do, but he turned Johnson and Perrira inside out on a 50-metre run to the line to score the try of the match.
Alex Green added the goal as ten minutes later the Maroons were caught napping again. Fly half Steve Burnhill launched a blindside attack, substitute winger Marshall out-paced the cover down the left before passing inside for John Bentley to score a simple try.
Green added the goal to give Cleckheaton a 14-12 lead but that was as good as it got for the home side as Morley finally took the game by the scruff of the neck.
Jamie Grayshon's penalty restored their lead after 38 minutes and they extended it on the stroke of half-time as scrum half Matt Smith scored under the posts. Within a minute of the re-start, Scott Evans scored his second try, improved by Grayshon who landed a penalty moments later.
After 48 minutes Johnson scored his second after good work by Smith and substitute Stewart Evans wrapped things up with the sixth try, again converted by Grayshon. Morley then used their experience to run the clock down but credit to Cleckheaton who kept on battling long after the cause was lost in this 44-14 defeat.
Bradford and Bingley took Wakefield all of the way to the wire in an exciting game.
Steve Brimacombe scored a try for Bees in the first half and with a Matthew Booth penalty added to their tally the tie was evenly poised at 18-8 to Wakefield at half-time.
Bees prevented Wakefield from scoring in the second half and scored a well-worked try themselves when Mark Coultas went over in the corner, following a good passing movement. The subsequent conversion by Booth took the score to 18-15, but Wakefield held on to win.
Full back Dennis Scarborough scored Wakefield's first try and New Zealander Nopera Stewart scored the second try. Fly half Tom Rhodes kicked a penalty and two conversion as Wakefield progressed to the next round. Although it was a brave result in many respects and Bees went close to a giant-killing, it was a mixed blessing for coach Matt Greenwood.
He said: ''You find from big games such as this you pick up injuries and I will probably find a few of the lads have taken knocks as a result of their efforts against Wakefield.
''We had three players out through injury and lost another through injury after five minutes, so it might pose a problem ahead of Saturday's crucial League game against Sheffield.''
He added: ''It had looked ominous early on against Wakefield, but we defended superbly after the first quarter.
''It was pleasing that the guys were not overawed and we made it difficult for them on the night.''
Elsewhere last night Harrogate were knocked out of the competition by Sandal 30-14 at Claro Road with tries either side of half-time from Mark Sales and Jonlee Lockwood proving decisive.
A brace of penalties from ex-England star Ray Adamson in the last ten minutes enabled North Yorkshire outfit Selby to progress at the expense of Redcar 14-11.
In tonight's fixtures Old Brodleians play host to Otley, Doncaster visit Sheffield for an all-South Yorkshire clash, Middlesbrough entertain Hull and Halifax have a home tie against Hull Ionians.
