Visually-impaired Edward East is to make a marathon effort to raise money for a cancer charity later this month.
Edward, 22, who is also epileptic, will tackle the gruelling Flora London Marathon in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care on April 22.
He will be helped out by his 'guide runner' Peter Helliwell after Edward fell twice whilst running the BUPA Great North Run in Newcastle last October.
Edward, of Plumpton Gardens in Wrose, said: "I am really looking forward to it but a little worried because I've picked up a minor injury recently."
This will be Edward's second marathon after he completed the British Millennium Marathon in Leyland, and he is aiming for a time of three hours, 30 minutes.
A member of the Eccleshill Road Runners, he has been training for the big event with Peter by catching the train to Skipton and running back to Bradford.
His capital challenge is being sponsored by Sheffield company My Own Mortgage which has said they will donate £25 for every successful mortgage application they receive before the end of May.
If you want to sponsor Edward, you can call him on (01274) 781081 or contact Brian Curran at Marie Curie on (01274) 780606.
