Skipton Sheep Day, a tradition revived last year, will go ahead this summer - without the sheep!
Plans to hold a rare-breeds parade and a sheep-shearing display have been cancelled in the wake of the foot and mouth crisis.
But the show is to go on, possibly with children dressed as sheep, alongside cardboard cut-outs and models of other animals.
Organiser Skipton Town Council says because Sheep Day is to be held on the High Street it can go ahead on July 1.
Members hope to stage some of the events which took place at last year's show, including a dry stone walling demonstration, weaving, basket making, Morris dancers and stalls selling Yorkshire produce.
Skipton Chamber of Trade has been putting forward suggestions for this year's events, including dressing children up as sheep, and having cardboard cut outs and models of animals.
