LITTLETOWN.......2

Otley TOWN.......4

Jekyll and Hyde Town produced a good solid performance at Littletown on Easter Monday. Richard Langhorn and Damien Lee returned to the Otley side and soon imposed themselves on the game. Littletown went ahead with a very dubious penalty in the sixth minute but this only lifted Town and they started to dominate for long spells.

On 15 minutes Ross Baron was upended 25 yards from goal and Lee stepped up to hit an unstoppable shot past the 'keeper to open his account for Town.

Four minutes later a great move involving Hutchinson and Lee resulted in Langhorn finishing in great style after receiving the ball on the edge of the box.

Another penalty was then awarded to Littletown and this levelled the scores.

It was a good game between two committed sides and with half-time looming a clearance by a home defender was met on the volley by Lee whose unbelievable shot flew into the top corner to put Town 3-2 up.

The home side pegged Town back at the start of the second-half but with North, Wolfenden and Redman at the heart of the defence defending brilliantly it was going to take something special to break them down.

In front of them Lunn, Baron and Ben Hawley worked tirelessly stopping moves and creatingt plenty of attacking moves for Town. James Firth and Graeme Hutchinson on the flanks used their unbelievable pace to great effect. Time after time they left the home defence in tatters. Hutchinson then missed a glorious chance for Otley before in the 72nd minute Lee picked the ball up just outside the area and left two defenders trailing before rounding the 'keeper to seal his hat-trick and the points for Town.

Every player played his part in this win but Langhorn and Lee up front looked in a league of their own.

Spa Athletic Res..........4

Otley Town A..............5

Otley Town A travelled to Harrogate to play Spa Athletic Reserves in a game that they almost lost to the windy conditions, refereeing and mistakes at the back.

Spa went ahead in the first period after a goalkeeping error by Ed Neale.

In the second-half, with the wind at their backs, Town put the pressure on

and Matt Budden's shot in a crowded goal area was a long time coming. Spa equalised almost immediately after a defensive error by the usually steady Paul Conway. Town again applied the pressure, with a succession of corners and the many free- kicks that were the result of some desperate tackling by the home team.

The equaliser came from leading goal scorer Dominique Blair, who with his back to goal neatly flicked the ball over the goalkeeper into the empty net.

The referee gave a very strange decision with a few minutes of the match

remaining, when he blew to give a free-kick for a headed back pass to the Otley goalkeeper. This resulted in the ball ending up in the back of the net, which would have won the game for them. The referee signalled for a goal and Spa were in the middle of their celebration when the linesman flagged for the referee to approach the touchline.

No one will ever know what was said between them but at a guess the linesman was pointing out the referee's mistake. The game was re-started with a free-kick for off-side. Throughout the match the assistants

impressed with the way they supported the referee.

Full-time saw the score at 2-2 and extra-time proved goalless, with both

teams defending well.

Youngster Adam Cater playing at left-back, was the best player for the

Otley side and Spa goalkeeper Stuart Lindsay was in outstanding form for his side.

Penalties are not an ideal way to win through to the final of a competition

but the game has to be decided somehow.

Otley's list of penalty takers read: Dale Gilmartin, Adam Cater, John Barber, Dominique Blair and Duncan

McCarthy.

Spa's second spot kicker and Otley's Blair both missed and with the others

all scoring the score was 4-4. Matt Budden stepped up to take the next penalty and became the hero when Spa's next penalty taker shot wide.

Scheduled fixtures for Town's teams over the next few weeks are: First Team - Saturday, April 21, home v Littletown; Saturday, April 28, away v Fields.

Town Reserves - Thursday, April 19, home v Spa Athletic 6.45pm kick-off.

Otley Town U-14s.......1

Leeds Macabbi...........0

Although too late to change their league position, having only drawn against Cookridge 2-2 the previous week Otley Town Under-14s gained victory over Macabbi.

Town showed promise for the future and got back to their winning ways in a mid-week game against the higher placed Leeds Macabbi.

This was a classic goal effort from a deep run by Matt Jones, who took the ball all the way through the defence from the half-way line to slot it past the 'keeper sealing Macabbi's fate ten minutes into the second-half.

Although Macabbi fought hard to get the equaliser they were unable to pull a goal back. Otley created many more chances but failed to convert constantly pressuring the Macabbi defenders.

This was a spirited performance by Otley and Man-of-the-Match was Matt Jones for his sterling work up front.

Otley went on tour over the Easter weekend, playing a tournament and friendly in Belgium.

They return for the final match of their season against Kirk Deighton on Sunday at the Old Show Ground, Pool Road, kick-off 2pm.
