Benito Carbone and Bradford City are in the dark about a possible summer move to Chelsea's Italian set.
Stamford Bridge boss Claudio Ranieri named Carbone on his shortlist of targets if he cannot persuade Gianfranco Zola to stay another year in England.
But Carbone, who scored a stunning goal in City's 2-0 Good Friday win over Charlton, said: "I don't know anything about it."
And Bantams boss Jim Jefferies admits he is also none the wiser about the latest transfer rumour surrounding the Italian showman.
"I watch the television and hear the news like everyone else. But as far as I'm aware there has been no approach.
"We're just concentrating on Beni being here at the moment to the end of the season. Then if anything does happen in the summer, it will run its course."
Chairman Geoffrey Richmond has given Jefferies a £5m wage cap for next season. Top earner Carbone would eat up 40 per cent of that.
Richmond, who rates Carbone as one of City's best ever players, said: "It's like if you go for your weekly shopping with £100 to spend and you have got some caviar which costs £25.
"Of course it leaves you less for other groceries but it all depends on whether you like caviar."
Jefferies is full of praise for Carbone's attitude both on and off the field.
He said: "Beni's been terrific and I'm sure that will continue. And if we have him next year we'll be delighted with that.
"As I've said all along, he's a different situation to the other players who have gone. His family wasn't settled and he was looking to get back to Italy.
"But things change in football and the circumstances changed for him after the Italian transfer window closed. We would have brought him back sooner but he was injured - it wasn't a case we left him out and forgot about him.
"He could have gone to Middles-brough on deadline day but that's past as well. Beni enjoys the training, enjoys working with the boys and is happy with what we are trying to do.
"We won't be losing any sleep if he remains here because he will be a big plus next season."
City's only injury doubt concerns Eoin Jess who has missed two days training after picking up a knock. Otherwise, Jefferies will name an unchanged team with Jamie Lawrence fit to return to the bench.
Frenchman Youl Mawene deputises in Derby's defence for Taribo West who is away on World Cup duty for Nigeria against Sierra Leone.
