A couple who missed out on a honeymoon first time round are more than making up for it with a golden wedding anniversary trip to Las Vegas and Los Angeles later this year.
Lawrence and Mavis Driver of Leeds Street, Keighley are looking forward to the trip to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, which is tomorrow.
They are both originally from Keighley and went to school in the town.
The couple met when Mavis was 17 and Lawrence was 22 at the Mechanics Dance Hall.
Lawrence joined the RAF and left in 1948 when he became a professional roofer.
Mavis worked in textiles and at Peter Black.
They have two sons, Terence and Kenneth, and one daughter, Jacqueline, who have all settled in the Keighley area. The golden wedding couple have eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Their family and close friends will meet for a party to celebrate tomorrow.
Mr and Mrs Lawrence are on the housing tenants' committee and are both enjoying learning computing as a hobby.
