Mobile library users in Craven have welcomed North Yorkshire County Council's decision to reopen service routes previously closed due to the foot and mouth outbreak.
Most visits have re-started, although there are still no stops at farm premises or within two miles of infected sites. Disinfectant facilities are being provided at all mobile library stops within the wider infected areas.
Cynthia Welbourn, the county council's director of education and libraries services, said: "We understand the isolation many people feel without regular access to our mobile library service. Therefore, following careful risk assessment of the situation, we are extremely pleased that most routes can reopen. We will continue to review the situation on a daily basis in order to resume a service to affected customers as soon as possible."
