The Skipton Building Society yesterday launched a national campaign offering financial support to all rural communities and other related businesses hit by the outbreak.
The Skipton is using its branches as collection points for donations; assisting borrowers in difficulty by suspending mortgage payments; improving access to savings without penalties; and calling on all UK banks and building societies to follow suit.
David Scott, of the society's Keighley branch, says: "I believe we are in a position to make a difference to those who are suffering."
