The affairs of Silsden accountant John E Rourke are under investigation by the government's financial watchdog.
The Financial Services Authority wants to talk to local people who have had dealings with Mr Rourke or his firm JE Rourke & Co.
It wants to hear from people who may have lent money or invested money with the accountant, or received any money from him.
An FSA spokesman says: "We would appeal to people to come forward and talk to us if they have had any dealings with him. We're trying to compile evidence."
The FSA, which regulates the financial services industry, can be contacted on 020 7676 1276 or 1272. Calls will be treated in confidence. Mr Rourke this week declined to comment, saying the matter is being dealt with through his solicitor.
