Rising Bradford Bulls star Lee Radford has been arrested after a bar brawl in Hull.

The 22-year-old forward, who formerly played for Hull FC and still lives in the city, was held by police called to a disturbance said to involve 12 people.

Officers were called to the scene by an ambulance crew following a 999 call to the Crown Inn, in east Hull, shortly after 11pm on Sunday.

Radford was not let out of the station until 5.25pm on Monday, missing the Bulls victory over Wigan Warriors, but is due to be in the squad for tomorrow night's game against Hull.

He was released on police bail, without charge, pending further inquiries.

A Humberside Police spokesman said: "On arriving, police officers found a crowd of about 20 people, however, at that time any fighting appeared to have stopped.

"One man was found to have facial injuries. He attended Hull Royal Infirmary for treatment but was immediately allowed home after treatment.

"At 11.17pm, a 22-year-old Hull man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault.

"He was interviewed at Hull police station and at 5.25pm on Monday, April 16, he was released on police bail pending further inquiries."

Radford, who started his professional career as a 16-year-old, is on the fringes of the Bulls' first team and was a firm favourite among the crowds during his days with Hull FC.

A Bradford Bulls spokesman said today that the club knew nothing about the incident and had no comment to make.
