Dougie Lampkin won the snow-hit opening round of the FIM Fortuna World Trials Championship at St Joan de les Abadesses, beating a combination of very hard sections, tight marking, snow and ice.
Spanish star Amos Bilbao exited at the fourth section when his machine plunged off a rocky section, fell down a cliff face and into a swollen river more than ten feet deep.
Three sections were axed on the second day and five others altered because of icy conditions.
Lampkin again blazed a victory trail on the easier and shorter course coming under pressure on the first lap from Graham Jarvis and top Spanish contender David Cobos, who was ahead of Jarvis in the scoreline.
Lampkin fired back on lap two as the sections dried out slightly and completed his final lap for just one penalty. Only Jarvis, who lost four marks, came close while Cobos fell apart with a loss of 19 penalties that dropped him to sixth.
