West Bowling suffered a shark attack in their final Division One game of the season.
They fell prey to the Shaw Cross Sharks as they lost 24-16 at Bradford Salem.
Everything looked to be going well as West Bowling cruised into an early lead.
Two penalties from centre Dean Garside got the scoreboard ticking before West Bowling ran in their first try.
Player-coach Glenn Barraclough broke clear and stand off Shaun Fallon was at his shoulder to provide the neat pass which sent scrum half Steve Illingworth racing in under the posts.
Garside added the extras and Bowling looked to be cruising at 10-0 but the Shark had other ideas.
A converted try reduced the lead to 10-6 at the break.
The loss of Fallon with a shoulder injury badly disrupted Bowling's rhythm.
They conceded 14 points before a Glenn Scott try - which was converted by Garside - gave Bowling renewed hope.
The Sharks proved that they had more firepower and wingman Richard Patnelli squeezed in at the corner to put the game beyond any doubt.
Keighley Albion finished their home league campaign at Cougar Park and thrived on the superior surface as they defeated Cottingham Tigers 39-12 in Division Two.
Just the extra width of the pitch worked to their advantage as they ran the Tigers ragged.
Albion produced possibly their best performance of the season.
Aussie imports Lee Stridd and Cameron Liddle were outstanding along with skipper and loose forward Jon Gwilliam.
Gwilliam opened the scoring when he supported a break by Liddle who then ran in the second try and added both conversions.
Gwilliam then sent Rob Haughey in for Albion's third try just before the break to give them a 16-8 lead at half-time.
Albion were unstoppable playing down the slope after the break.
Another fine break by Liddle was finished off by Stridd who then watched as his compatriot took a quick tap and raced 80 metres for one of the tries of the season.
Gwilliam banged over a field goal before Neil Jordan and Chris Hogg added tries.
Liddle kicked a conversion and Andy Bowness landed a last minute penalty.
Liddle was chosen as man of the match but was pushed all the way by giant prop Martin Fryers.
Albion are in action at Thatto Heath tonight and will visit Hull Dockers on May 5 knowing that one victory from either of these two difficult games will ensure that they finish at least fourth.
