Guyson Merit

The finals of the Guyson International Individual Merit will be played on Sunday at Ilkley Bowling Club with an 11 am start. Competing for prize money kindly put up by the sponsors will be John Emmerson (Ilkley BC), Michael Upton (Myrtle Park), John Thompson (Rufford) and Roman Hrabar (Myrtle Park). The referee will be Janice Waite.

Billie Bowers Trophy

The Billie Bowers Memorial Trophy will now be held on one day only - Sunday, May 27 - at Dacre Banks Bowling Club. The entries will be restricted to 32 open doubles with prize money of £500 guaranteed. Those bowlers who have already entered this tournament will play on May 27 and the club is notifying confirmation to those players.

The entry fee is £7 per pair and there are still vacancies. All entries should be sent to David Hardcastle at 17, Grange Road, Dacre Banks, Harrogate HG4 GA (Tel 01423 780460) together with a cheque made payable to Dacre Banks Bowling Club. Refreshments will be served throughout the day.

Encouraging juniors

Yeadon Park Bowling Club have joined the increasing number of clubs in the area providing a training scheme to encourage youngsters to play the game. Details of the scheme can be obtained from club secretary Frank Robinson on 01943 874084.
