Guiseley'S Dawn Johnson won the singles title at the Hull 68th Badminton Tournament on the Badminton Association Satellite Circuit. Dawn lifted the title at the Hull and East Riding Sports Club.
Seeded No 1 the Guiseley School pupil first defeated Claire Millward (Coventry) 11-7 11-9 in the semi final and then after a long three games beat Tracy Watson (Macclesfield) in the final 11-6 4-11 11-9 to take the title.
Seeded second in the ladies doubles with partner Claire Millward (Coventry) Dawn went through to the final but they came up against strong opposition in Katie Litherland and Donna Tollett who took the title winning 15-8 15-2.
To complete the season Dawn with partner Claire Millward will be competing in the English Schools' Badminton Association Junior Grand Finals at Milton Keynes National Badminton Centre on May 26 and 27.
The tournament is by invitation only to top the eight points scorers in each discipline. Yehlex Vouchers will be awarded to finalists and runners up.
England players are training at two summer camps in August, one at Ribby Hall Blackpool, the second at Bath University.
Dawn and partner Claire will be attending the second at Bath, in preparation for the next season which starts at the end of August, the first Tournament being the Yorkshire Open.
