SPECIAL arrangements have been made to retrieve cricket balls hit into neighbouring farmland when the Airedale and Wharfedale Senior Cricket League gets into full swing on Saturday.
At some grounds only a nominated, disinfected person may retrieve balls from adjoining farmland while at Upper Wharfedale the balls must remain where they land and await the farmer retrieving them. Visiting clubs are advised to make sure they have plenty of spare balls with them.
At Addingham and Beckwithshaw only the nominated, disinfected member of the home club will be allowed to retrieve the ball. At Beckwithshaw visitors' cars will also have to be disinfected.
At Steeton CC the fields adjoining the ground have been arable for some time and no problem exists there.
At Tong Park there have been no animals in the fields at the bottom of the slope for some 18 months so again no problems should exist.
League Secretary Howard Clayton said: "I thank all clubs in advance for their co-operation in this matter. Please ensure that as visitors you adhere strictly to local arrangements."
