Manager Trevor Storton is hoping Bradford Park Avenue can not only win the UniBond League First Division championship tomorrow, but win it in style.
Avenue made sure of promotion to the Premier Division when they beat Witton Albion 4-1 at home on Wednesday and Storton is looking for a repeat performance when they meet Gretna tomorrow in their final home match of the season.
The Witton win left them needing only one point from their remaining three matches to win the title and it would be a major surprise they didn't do it against next to the bottom Gretna.
"It would be nice to win the championship in style in front of our own supporters," said Storton. "It pleased me that we not only made sure of promotion on Wednesday night, but we did it at home with such a good performance. Now, we are looking for much of the same tomorrow."
Storton is hoping that at least one of his first choice players, Jason Maxwell and Dean Calcutt who missed the Witton match will be fit to return.
Maxwell who is second leading scorer with 20 goals has missed the last two matches with a neck injury while Calcutt who creates so many chances from right wing missed the Witton match with a slight hamstring strain.
"I am optimistic that Jason will be fit, but I don't know about Dean," said Storton."
Avenue, who have won 12 of their last 14 matches will be favourites to beat Gretna and, if they do, they will not only win the championship but help neighbours Guiseley in their battle against relegation.
They will be wary about Gretna, though, after the Scottish side's remarkable win at North Ferriby in midweek.
Avenue have brought forward the kick-off time to 2pm to allow their supporters to watch the second half of Bradford Bulls Challenge Cup final against St Helens on TV.
