It was all smiles at Manorlands as the hospice reaped the rewards of a very snappy fundraising idea.
A Gator, the toothy mascot of fuel company Bayford Thrust, presented a cheque for £332 to Manorlands, the Sue Ryder Care home in Oxenhope.
The company donated £2 to Manorlands for every order it took during December and January.
The kind-hearted gesture was made possible thanks to Jim Horsfield, a sales employee for the company, which has its Keighley base in Valley Road, Thwaites Brow.
He put the idea to his bosses in Wetherby who were only too happy to oblige.
And it has been such a success that the company is to repeat the fundraising drive this autumn.
Jim said: "My wife Julie is a nurse at Manorlands so I know how important donations are to cover the day-to-day running costs.
"This may only be a drop in the ocean, but it all helps."
He added: "We'll be doing the same thing again in September and October and we are hoping to raise even more money then."
Fundraiser Sally Owthwaite said: "We need to raise more than £800,000 a year towards running costs of £1.1million and we rely on fundraising and voluntary donations.
"Help from local businesses, such as the Bayford Thrust, is vital and we are very grateful to Jim and the company for raising this money."
Jim's brother-in-law Chris Slater, who runs a carpet shop in Aireworth Road, has also done his bit to help the hospice by donating £5 from every sale over £60 he has made.
