A witness told a trial how he watched a gunman fire four or five times outside a Bradford caf where a man was shot dead.
Mohammed Akhtar Ayaz said he saw Safdar Khan fire towards the Young Lions Caf in Lumb Lane, Bradford, as it was attacked by a mob on July 14 last year.
Destor Coleman, 27, known as Dexter, was shot in the back by .45 calibre pistol and died.
Mr Ayaz, of Belvedere Terrace, Bradford, told the jury: "As I got to Pickton Street I got halfway down and saw a man standing in front of me who I knew to be Safdar Khan.
"He stood more or less in Lumb Lane facing the Young Lion caf with his hand outstretched and I heard a crack over a matter of ten seconds. I was about 30ft or 35ft away, I distinctly remember that. Every time I heard a crack I saw his hand recoil backwards about four or five times."
The jury earlier heard evidence from the owner of the Young Lion caf. Denziel Morris Powell, who has run the caf for seven years, said there were customers inside when he heard trouble outside. "People came rushing in to the caf - it was jam-packed with people trying to get in," said Mr Powell.
He said he saw Mr Coleman being helped into the caf because he could not walk.
He had not heard shots being fired but had been told Mr Coleman had been shot. He said the mob of Asian men - some wearing balaclava masks - then pulled the mesh from the caf windows and began throwing stones at them.
"We threw things down the stairs to stop them coming upstairs," he said. "We threw the fridge and a gas heater. They were trying to come up and kill us."
Khan, 23, of Tile Street, Girlington, pleaded not guilty to the murder of Mr Coleman, of West Bowling, and to violent disorder. Mohammed Shaffi, 26, of Whetley Grove, Girlington, has pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of O'Neil Giscombe and to violent disorder.
Yousuf Khan, 26, of Tile Street, Girlington, and Adelso Saws, 20, of Grange View, Chapeltown, Leeds, have pleaded not guilty to violent disorder. Mohammed Raja, 31, of Parkside Road, West Bowling, has pleaded not guilty to robbery and violent disorder.
The case continues.
