Seven-year-old Sion Ekata has defeated national rivals to gain a top martial arts award.
The Riddlesden youngster has just become the national under-eights Aikido champion.
Sion, who has a five-year-old sister Elki, has been involved in the sport for 18 months.
Her mum Olu saids: "He saw it on TV and thought he'd like to do it. He also enjoys swimming and gymnastics, and shines at anything physical."
Sion is trained by instructor Bob Jones in Ilkley and is a member of the Wharfedale Aikido Club.
Aikido is derived from the martial arts Ju Jitsu and Kenjitsu. It focuses on using energy to gain control over or throw away an opponent rather than kicking and punching.
Olu describes it as a "non-offensive martial art."
