A fine team performance secured the Yorkshire Plate for Silsden AFC Ladies on Sunday.
Kirklees Ladies started strongly, but Silsden overcame their nerves to take the lead through Edna Smith's breakaway goal after Rachel Chapman headed the ball over the Kirklees defence.
Silsden had a number of chances to increase their lead in the first half but were unable to take them.
After the break, Smith delighted the travelling Silsden support with her second goal from close range. Again Silsden had chances to wrap the game up.
Kirklees were let back into the game after a dubious penalty decision for Kristie Reynold's challenge on the Brigg Striker. Reynolds got a good hand to the ball but was unable to stop it going in.
Silsden maintained their pressure on the Brigg goal, but were unable to increase their lead, and deservedly went home 2-1 winners.
It was a fantastic effort by the girls, winning their first cup competition, they were helped tremendously by their army of supporters.
Silsden play Kirklees again this Sunday in the League competition. Kick off is at 1.30 at Kirklees.
