Three firemen were hurt - two after being sprayed with acid - in a big blaze caused by a mysterious explosion at a West Yorkshire chemical plant. No one knew, today, what had caused the blast at A.H. Marks and Co's works at Wyke Lane, Wyke. Asbestos cladding was scattered over the works by the explosion in a four-storey plant and 40 firemen fighting the blaze afterwards ran a constant risk of more blasts.

An attempt to form a Bradford Northern supporters' club will be made next week at Low Moor, with an inaugural meeting on Thursday at the Victoria Hotel. Steps to start a club have been taken by Mr. Stanley Ward ( Ernest Ward's brother) and Mr David Thornton, and the way is now clear to start enrolling members. Monthly meetings are envisaged when things get under way.
