Defeat for the Bradford Bulls left Centenary Square vacant for hundreds of youngsters' annual St George's Day parade.
Scouting groups from across the district converged on the city centre for their 80th traditional church service and procession.
Scouting leaders had been warned that if the Bulls won the Challenge Cup final the youngsters would have to move on promptly from the square after the event to make way for the club's celebrations. But an 11th hour deal ensured the Scouts were allowed to finish their march in Centenary Square.
Headed by the players from the Queensbury-based Scout Band more than 1,000 youngsters marched through the streets after a special service at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church in East Parade.
Bradford's Deputy Lord Mayor Phyllis Pettit was guest of honour to take the salute.
