Robbie Blake will rush to be put on the spot again for Bradford City tonight despite contributing one of the two missed penalties at Everton.
Blake and Benito Carbone both goofed in Saturday's 2-1 defeat that officially sent the Bantams tumbling into Division One.
But as City pick themselves up against Liverpool in front of a 22,500 sell-out at Valley Parade, Blake is ready to take penalty responsibility again.
He said: "I was gutted to miss because if we had gone 2-1 up then the game would have ended very differently and Everton wouldn't have won it.
"But better players than me have missed penalties in the past. It's just one of those things and I'm sure if I get the next one, then I will put it away.
"But I can't put too much of the blame on myself because the club have been going down for a while. We're all bitterly disappointed but it was only a matter of time."
Boss Jim Jefferies revealed that Blake wanted to take City's second spot-kick at Goodison but Carbone stepped in.
Jefferies said: "Beni thought he might be a bit down so he decided to do the job. Unfortunately it didn't work out either.
"But Blakey wants to take the next one. When they miss one, good penalty takers like to go straight back in and show they can still do it.
"Robbie Blake is confident enough and that's the main thing. Hopefully we will get one to give him the chance."
Blake wants City to finish with a flourish as he targets a push for promotion next season.
He said: "We've got four games left and let's see if we can win them all and then build in the summer.
"You look at the players we've got at the club at the moment and we're capable of getting strai-ght back up into the Premier League. Some will go out and some new faces will come in but I'm sure whoever is here will do well.
"I was wondering what was happening when all the players were going. The gaffer made up his mind as to who he wanted to get out and we were left to get on with it.
"But he has been going down the right lines. When he took over we were in desperate trouble anyway.
"I'm hoping to be here and I'd like to build on what I did last time in the First Division."
