Bradford busmen today called for help to beat violence on the buses. With their call came a warning: no public co-operation - no bus services. Jim Derham, Bradford District Officer for the Transport and General Workers Union, made the busmen's position clear at an informal meeting with representatives of local organisations. He said:
"We are asking the public to help to identify thugs who attack our bus crews."

The organisers of the Bradford Agricultural Show, hoping for seasonable weather in Whit week, are catering for a big crowd at their show on Saturday, May 19, at Apperley Bridge. The show, inaugurated by the young farmers of the district, again has civic patronage. One of the last engagements to be undertaken by the Lord Mayor, Alderman Alton Ward, before he is succeeded by Alderman Horace Hird, will be the opening of the event at the official luncheon.
