A chartered accountancy firm from the region has been appointed as internal auditors for the Rugby Football League.

Bentley Jennison, from Leeds, will perform salary audits for all of the Tetley's Super League and the Northern Ford Premier-ship clubs for the last year.

Staff are currently visiting most of the club grounds to carry out the exercise - the first time such an external audit has taken place.

The check is being made to make sure no teams are spending more than a pre-agreed percentage of their income on players' wages.
