Guiseley 0, Bradford Park Avenue 0 - Last night's big UniBond division one derby between Guiseley and champions Bradford Park Avenue ended goal-less and the one point gleaned by the home side made certain they avoided the drop.
Guiseley were looking for a victory to ensure their UniBond status and came close to breaking the deadlock several times.
But as news of Winsford United's home defeat to Belper Town filtered through soon after the final whistle the mood at Nethermoor lightened.
"It would have been nice to win and we came so close to beating the team that lifted the title," said Guiseley director Stuart Allen.
"But Winsford lost so we are definitely safe now.
"At least it's not all down to our last game because we have to travel to Chorley on Saturday and that will not be an easy game by any means."
Avenue manager Trevor Storton felt a draw on the night was a just result but his former player coach Phil Sharpe, now assistant manager at Nethermoor would hardly let him get a word in.
"Sharpey says they should have won it because they hit the bar but our keeper could have thrown his cap on it it was going so slow," Storton retorted.
"But seriously, Guiseley gave us a hard game and worked hard.
"They have stayed up anyway and I am glad for them."
The home side did create the batter chances but they suffered bad luck in front of goal.
In the first half defender Simon Trevitt twice headed just over and Andy Shuttleworth headed wide from Dave Henry's cross.
It was Shuttleworth's shot which hit the woodwork with keeper Gavin Kelly beaten but the rebound was scrambled away for a corner.
From the flag kick Shuttleworth headed inches wide again. In the 66th minute a Trevitt header was cleared off the line and in the last minute Kelly made a good save from Gareth Pritchard.
Meanwhile, in the Northern Counties East Premier division Liversedge were denied a victory over former manager Eric Gilchrist's Ossett Albion after a a winning 'goal' was ruled out of time.
With the contest at Clayborn poised at 2-2 Damien Melvin took possession of James Stansfield's throw-in seconds into injury time but as his shot arrowed towards Albion's net the whistle went before it had crossed the line.
Albion's former Liversedge skipper Mick Cater had given the visitors a two goal lead.
He headed home from a free kick two minutes before the break and netted a spot kick in the 55th minute after centre back Neil Dillon had handled in the area.
Melvin levelled with 20 minutes to go after chipping in from the edge of the area and earned a penalty five minutes later when he was brought down in the area. Gavin Smith's spot kick was parried by the visitor's keeper but the striker hammered in the rebound.
Thackley won the Bradford derby with a 3-0 victory at Plumpton Park over Eccleshill United, which was marred by each side having a player taken off to hospital.
In the first half Thackley striker Andy Patterson was taken away by ambulance but the damage was believed to be only a trapped sciatic nerve.
United's Kevin Woodhead, who came on as a substitute for the injured Lee Margerison after 39 minutes, had his season cut short by a suspected fractured foot in the 65th minute.
After a goalless first half Thackley keeper Richard Cornwall had made three outstanding saves early in the second period before Wayne Metcalfe opened the scoring for the visitors in the 75th minute.
Simon Hillam added the second following an 80th minute corner and three minutes later Thackley substitute James Russell completed the scoring with a well struck 20 yard shot.
