Silsden and Keighley Juniors fought out a hard match in the Sunday Wharfedale football leagues New Bridge senior Sunday Cup.
After a goalless first half it was Michael Ward who broke the scoring after five minutes of the restart, but Keighley pushed them all the way. Martin McClennon doubled Silsden's lead midway through the half. Keighley pushed forward and with ten minutes remaining pulled one back. They pushed for another but could not find a way past the Silsden defence for a second time so the first honours go to Silsden.
In the Premier Division Stanbury Park Rangers maintain their push for the title with another good victory by out-classing under-strength Victoria 2000. Stanbury started slowly but still created a host of chances and by half-time lead by 2-0 with Colin Horsefield and Dave Bainbridge scoring for them. In the second half Stanbury came out with more commitment and were camped in the Victoria 2000's half and ran out easy winners with both Bainbridge and Horsefield both adding another each and Mick Thompson netting twice and one form Simon Thompson to make a final score of 7-0.
The other game played in the division saw Victoria Hotel beat Boltmakers Arms for the second time in three days. After winning 3-0 on Thursday night, they went on to win this scrappy game. At the break it was evens - after Boltmakers took the lead Pete Bousfield levelled before half-time. In the second half Hotel played better and ran out comfortable winners as both Steve Bradshaw and Steve Cook scored twice to make it 5-0 in Hotel's favour.
