More than 20,000 people made their way to Ilkley yesterday for the town's annual carnival.
Foot and mouth restrictions had already forced organisers to cancel Otley's gala and people were determined to make the most of what could be the only major community event in the Wharfe Valley this year.
Among the events was a display from the Royal Artillery Parachute Team, which left one member with a twisted ankle after taking a heavy landing.
Carnival committee chairman Andrew Munro praised fellow organisers and the record number of around 100 volunteer helpers for their hard work.
He said: "The day has gone very well. I am hoping the gate figures will reflect that it has been the best yet."
Fancy dress prize winners included pupils from Ghyll Royd School who dressed as The Grand Old Duke of York and children from Westville House School who were a Pack of Cards. They received a trophy from Lord Mayor of Bradford Stanley King, pictured with Lynne Frisby and Elaine Ryder.
Money raised from the carnival will go to Ilkley Rugby Football Club Ltd, Ilkley Grammar School, Olicanian Cricket Club, Ilkley Swimming Club 2000 and Ilkley Cricket Club.
