Dale Robinson confirmed his reputation as one of boxing's brightest young talents by winning his first title last night.
Robinson, who is trained by Chris Aston at Wibsey's Parks Gym, claimed the Central Area flyweight crown by stopping the champion Terrace Gaskin in three rounds at Barnsley Metrodome.
It was an impressive performance by Robinson who dominated his rival throughout as he extended his winning run as a professional to six fights.
The former ABA champion was simply too sharp for his rival and it was no surprise when Gaskin's manager Glyn Rhodes pulled him out at the end of the third round.
Afterwards Robinson said: "I was pleased with win and now I want to go on and win bigger titles."
But his promoter Tommy Gilmour cautioned:"We need to take things steadily. I'd like to see him have another half a dozen fights first."
Former British welterweight champion Derek Roche returned to action with a convincing six-round points win over journeyman Paul Denton.
Robinson's stablemate James Hare was an impressive winner. He stopped French welterweight Jessy Moreaux in three rounds with great ease.
