Former Bradford Lady Mayoress Iris Coughlin has died at the age of 79.
Mrs Coughlin, who served in the civic office with her husband Danny in 1981-1982, died from a blood clot in her lung.
She had been ill since December and had spent the last two weeks in St Luke's Hospital.
She leaves behind her husband, a son, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr Coughlin, former ward councillor for University ward, said: "It is a very sad loss and she will be sorely missed.
"Iris was a great woman who thought of other people more than she thought of herself."
Lorraine Shaw, of the Lord Mayor's office, said: "She continued to do a lot of work for the Lord Mayor's charities after her time as Lady Mayoress and was very active with the annual spring fair."
During her time as Lady Mayoress Mrs Coughlin raised £180,000 for War on Cancer, a charity she continued to work for tirelessly, and was recognised by the Queen for her efforts.
