Super League life doesn't get any easier for Stuart Fielden but he's not the sort to take a backward step.
Clashes with Warrington's former Aussie Test prop An-drew Gee and Castleford's Dean Sampson have kept the pot boiling nicely for another potentially explosive battle with the Rhinos pack spearheaded by Barrie McDermott tonight.
"There is no love lost between myself and Gee," admits Fielden who clashed repeatedly last season over complaints of the England prop's high knee action when driving forward.
And the controversy arose at The Jungle last Saturday when Tigers boss Stuart Raper complained it had resulted in injuries to two of his players including the fiery Sampson.
But Fielden does not accept he is at fault.
"The talk about it doesn't really effect me. It is something which started a few years back. It's not intentional - you lift your knees to run it's a simple law of physics.
"Last week I did catch Sampson in the groin but it was a pure accident and he started running around being silly.".
A derby with arch rivals Leeds tonight will be no knitting circle either but it's a prospect Fielden is relishing.
"I always look forward to the local derbies and this is no different with both teams raring to go.
"There could be more fireworks. Players do get fired up more for derbies and there is virtually certain to be some controversy. That's what makes the games between Bradford and Leeds what they are - great to watch and even better to play in.
"I am very disappointed with my own form and I reckon it's the worst start to a season I have had so far.
"But I felt it was starting to come back a little against Castleford and my aim is to keep it going and hopefully win selection for the Yorkshire side to face Lan-cashire next month.
"Karl Harrison has taken me under his wing which is a great help. He's always telling me how many millions of matches he played but you have to listen to a player who achieved so much in the game. I do work with him a lot and it has helped with various aspects of my play."
