THESE surpliced choirboys, most with their hair smoothed down with Brylcream, were processing from the National School, at the bottom of West Lane, down High Street to Keighley Parish Church.
They are passing Frank Driver's on the corner of Rectory Row, who could truthfully call his 'the Very Top Shop' because it occupied the spot traditionally known as t'Top o' t' Town.
The photograph was supplied by Mr Michael Shearing, of Skipton Road, Utley, who sang as a boy in St Mark's Church choir, which he thinks on this occasion had amalgamated with the Parish Church choirboys for a joint special service at the Parish Church.
He thinks this would be about the middle to later 1950s, possibly around Whitsuntide.
This provides a good example of a casual family snapshot recording a scene which has already become historical.
