Bronte Wanderers have taken the Division One title - and gained promotion for the second successive season.

They picked up the points they needed with a 3-0 victory over Skipton Town and on Wednesday were going in search of a league and cup double when they meet Carleton at Cross Hills.

Carleton need to win at least one of their last three matches to take runners-up spot and Bradley can pip them if they win their four remaining matches and Carleton lose one.

The race for the Premier Division title is all but over with both Skipton Bulldogs and Cross Hills playing Skipton LMS. If both win the issue may be settled by Colne Cricket Club's failure to pay fines to the Lancashire FA which will result in their suspension. If the fines are not paid before the end of the season the points from any unplayed matches will go to their opponents - which could hand the championship to Bulldogs.

The Northern Plant Hire Challenge Cup Trophy will be played at Barnoldswick United's ground between Cross Hills and Skipton Bulldogs.

Hills beat Clitheroe 1-0 in the semi-final with both sides finding it difficult to adapt to the conditions. After a season of mud the ground was hard and bumpy. In the opening half Cross Hills took an early chance but missed a penalty. Clitheroe enjoyed much of the play in the second half but could not get the equaliser.

Skipton reached the final thanks to two first half goals against Carleton. The Skipton side created the better chances in the second half but were unable to add to their score.

The first final of the season saw Lothersdale Athletic take the Division Two Cup with a 4-1 victory over Skipton LMS Reserves. The Skipton side started with 10 men and were soon up against it as Dale's forwards quickly penetrated the LMS defence with the opening goal coming after four minutes. They scored a second 10 minutes later to secure a 2-0 half time lead.

Dale added another goal early in the second half to seal victory and although LMS worked hard they could make little impression on the Dale defence.

In the closing stages they won a penalty only to see Dale round off their day with a fourth goal. A disappointing crowd saw the cup presented by League Chairman Mr Geoff Aldersley.
