Silsden LADIES have won the Yorkshire Plate competition and are just one game away from clinching promotion in the league.

The continued their success last week, after drawing 2-2 away to Knaresborough mid-week they picked up an easy three points winning 9-0 at home to Norton. Hat-tricks from Edna Smith and Shelley Donohoe added to goals from Vicky Ellis, Carrie Kennedy & Emma Shaw.

Norton rarely looked liked scoring as Silsden built on their 4-0 half time score. Claire Hodgson was awarded man of the match after an excellent game by the right winger.

The previous week Silsden Ladies kicked off in a confident mood after beating Kirklees in the Yorkshire Plate. They were soon 1-0 up thanks to a fantastic goal from Claire Hodgson. The home side soon levelled but stand-in captain Jenny Wood ensured Silsden moved up a gear and Emma Shaw scored for Silsden to make it 2-1 at half time.

The second half saw Silsden starting strong and dominating the game. A corner from 'Woman of the Match' Shelley Donohoe resulted in a flick on from Celine Donohoe and a goal from Carrie Kennedy.

Efforts from Vicky Ellis and Vicky Hanson were denied but a tired Kirklees side could not keep up as Shelley Donohoe scored twice to seal the game. Promotion into the Premier League is now looking very likely for the Silsden side.

They have played this season without a coach and are searching for someone to manage the team next season. Anyone interested should contact Carrie Kennedy 07798-744 676
