James Hare's growing status as serious welterweight contender has been acknowledged.

The talented Bradford boxer will fight a British title eliminator against Patrick John Humphries at York Hall, Bethnal Green on May 26.

It's Hare's reward for his impressive third-round stoppage of Frenchman Jessy Moreaux at Barnsley last week.

With 16 wins and a draw from 17 fights, Hare is ready for the step up in class.

His trainer Chris Aston said: "James has shown himself to be a good boxer.

"His punching power troubles most of his opponents and I am pleased he has got the opportunity to fight an eliminator."

Aston, who has seen Hare blossom since joining his stable of boxers at Wibsey's Parks Gym, believes he can keep his unbeaten run going.

"James is keen to succeed and is showing tremendous determination.

"His boxing is improving all the time and I have high hopes for him.

"This will be a good test for him. Humphries had a good amateur career and achieved a lot.

"He won't be a pushover but neither do I see him halting James's good run of results."

Hare, who is rated tenth in Britain, could eventually met up with his stablemate Jawaid Khaliq, the Common-wealth champion, who is currently preparing for an IBO world title fight against Willy Wise on June 11.

Sky Sports are tonight broadcasting a special feature on Bradford's emerging young flyweight star Dale Robinson.

They have been filming him at work and in training.

It will be shown on the Ringside programme being broadcast on Sky Sports 1 at 8pm.

Sky have identified Robinson as one of the sport's most exciting young talents.

They have filmed all of his six pro fights to date and they have taken a particularly close interest in his development.
